Sally is the driving force behind Makahika OPC. Her vision is to ‘create experiences to inspire’. Most days Sally works in the corporate space of SALLYDUXFIELD.COM creating experiences for her corporate clients or high performance sports teams. Immensely proud of the team she has created at Makahika, she has total confidence in their ability to host visitors and make their visits extraordinary and memorable.
15 years of very careful selection and building this team ensures we have the very best in the industry on site, in place to walk with you on your experiential journey.

Our Business Lead - Jayde Meech
Sally & Jayde
With an extraordinary background in marketing, event management, Jayde joined our team from Outward Bound. Her intimate knowledge of the experiential training world and ‘sales’ within that world, means her value add to Makahika is exceptional.
Jayde knows what we do in the Wilderness, she knows what it can do for you, and she understands the logistics of coordinating multiple team members from around Australasia to be in one place at one time.
It will be Jayde who takes over the coordination of all corporate events and experiences at Makahika and Arete Leadership Village for your team.
Nothing is too hard nor too much trouble. We love Jayde.
Our Corporate Facilitators and Instructors
From alpine specialists with a talent for leading debriefs and extracting learning out of individuals, to our first ‘yogi’ with a firearms background (dichotomy huh?), our Makahika team who lead your adventures, will leave you with a deep sense of self, of achievement, of satisfaction and pride; fueled with passion and new skills to take back to your work environment and ‘aspire’. Talented, caring, beautiful people.
The School Instructional Team
This group of women and men are gathered from around the world and have blended to become our Makahika family; superb individuals who together are an exceptional high performance team. With a deep passion for children, learning and harnessing talent, the team will lead your children through an interactive experiential programme filled with adventure, laughter, challenge and fine fine food!

The Special Lads
We are privileged to have on the team some ‘special’ instructors. Can’t show their faces but by gosh, do they add colour and stories to the fireside chats. If you venture onto one of our Wilderness Experiences, you will meet this highly skilled team of ‘special lads’.
The Support Crew
Where do we start - Jules has the helm - running the whole site with a deft hand, completely inappropriate humour (delivered at appropriate moments), strong coordination, great consideration of clients needs and also accommodating the needs of our team. Jules is helped in the kitchen by Leonie and Remy, with some ring in’s when the going gets tough.
Maria runs the landscaping, maintenance and ‘everything else’ side of things. She has been on this site longer than any of us, and has a great passion and depth of knowledge of all things Makahika. And 2020 will bring Adele who is our extra gardening guru who will tame the greatness of the Arete Leadership Village.
Duke of Edinburgh
John Duxfield, (in retirement) coordinates the Duke of Ed programmes and instructors. Highly skilled, with vast experience in the wilderness this team of men and women provide safe, nurturing and challenging instruction for young minds.
John (JD) (old pilot), Brian (old farmer), David (old guru), Russell (getting old), Emily (youngest), Lyn (not old) plus some other fabulous ‘on demand’ backup legends.
